The message of ODF, though slow to begin, is set to gain momentum. The government is motivated to meet the target and has undertaken the mission on a war footing. But due to the size and scale of the verification process, the checks have been slow to catch up with the claims. Verification is imperative because numerous cases of frauds in the race to ODF have come to light. For instance, toilets coloured differently to fake pictures as evidence of toilets built, claimants taking false credit for construction, completely fake claims about the structure built, blocking officials from conducting verification etc. Despite this, even half the claims on ODF have not yet been verified by third-party audits such as by the CAG or by trusted experts in the field of verification.
